Nov. 19, 2013 at 1:09 PM ET

Jackie Kennedy's signature pillbox hat and matching pink suit, a replica of a Chanel style, became a symbol of mourning after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Known to this day simply as "the pink suit," the former first lady had already worn it six times before that fateful Nov. 22, but it is now only remembered as bloodstained — and the outfit that marked her as a widow.

Video: NBC’S Andrea Mitchell looks at the history of the iconic suit worn by Jackie Kennedy before and shortly after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy.
