After being shown on video running toward a burning house to rescue a 73-year-old California man trapped by the flames, rescuer Thomas Artiaga reunited with the man on Monday while saying he is overwhelmed by all the attention he has received as a hero.

Artiaga was captured on a cellphone video with Robert Wells, 73, draped over his shoulder as Artiaga helped rush him to safety from a house fire in Fresno, California. Wells thanked him in person on Monday when the two reunited after the dramatic rescue.

"I saw his daughter or niece trying to help him out and get out,'' Artiaga told TODAY. "He couldn't really walk that well, so I just picked him up and carried him out."

Artiaga said he rushed toward danger "because it was the right thing to do," and that "we all should help sometimes."
