How cool is Colin Powell? He was taking selfies long before today’s hipsters were even born.
The 76-year-old former secretary of state got into the "Throwback Thursday" spirit on Facebook, postinga black-and-white photo of his younger self standing in front of a bedroom mirror, holding a vintage camera.
“Throwback Thursday — I was doing selfies 60 years before you Facebook folks. Eat your heart out Ellen!” Powell wrote in the caption.
Within two hours of being posted, the photo had already been "liked" by 35,000 people and shared more than 8,000 times.
Powell's reference, of course, is to the celebrity-studded “selfie” that Ellen DeGeneres took while hosting this year's Oscars award show. She posted that picture on Twitter and it quickly racked up more than 3 million retweets, shattering the social media site's record for reposts.
