Is 'Dancing With the Stars' pro Derek Hough quitting the show?

It sounds like 10 seasons of "Dancing With the Stars" might be enough for pro hoofer Derek Hough. It sounds like 10 seasons of "Dancing With the Stars" might be enough for pro hoofer Derek Hough. In an interview with USA Today, the three-time mirror-ball trophy winner said that the upcoming "All-Stars" season "is kind of my swan song. It's my last hurrah."

According to the fan and judges' favorite, he's ready to focus his professional attentions elsewhere. Hough, who has been part of the ballroom bash since season five, took a break from the show in spring 2011. Instead of showing off his perfect footwork on "Dancing's" stage, he filmed a starring role in the dance movie "Cobu," which is expected to be released next year.

"This show is full time ... there is zero flexibility," Hough told USA Today of "Dancing's" grueling schedule. "And I want to do other projects. I want to push myself into other areas. ... And this is my 10th season, a great benchmark."

If he does indeed leave "DWTS" to pursue other showbiz opportunities, Hough won't be the first to do so. His sister Julianne is also a pro dancer, and appeared on seasons four through eight of "Dancing" before hanging up her barely-there sequined outfits for a music and film career.

"Dancing With the Stars: All Stars" premieres on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. on ABC. The cast is expected to be announced on Friday morning.

Which of Derek's many dances on "DWTS" over the seasons is your favorite? Tell us on our Facebook page!
