Cynthia Nixon is not hurting for employment these days. She's got a recurring role on the NBC series "Hannibal," and she's set to return to Broadway this fall in "The Real Thing." But when asked if she would consider squeezing in another "Sex and the City" movie, her answer was a definite yes.

"From your lips to God's ears," she told TODAY's Tamron Hall during a visit Friday. "If Michael Patrick (King) will write it and Sarah Jessica (Parker) will star in it, absolutely."

For now, she's going to have to keep "SATC's" no-nonsense lawyer, Miranda, in the background, and continue being the no-nonsense investigator for the Office of the Inspector General on "Hannibal." But there are plenty of benefits to that job, she said, such as working alongside Laurence Fishburne.

"Any day you get to act with Laurence Fishburne is a good day," she said. "I am so admiring of him. ... They said, 'You're going to be Laurence Fishburne's boss,' and I was like, 'I'm going to tell Laurence Fishburne what to do? OK, that's an acting job.'"

Nixon got her start in the business as a child actor when she was 12, and Hall helpfully showed a clip from one of the star's very early roles, Sunshine in the 1980 film "Little Darlings."

"It's really hard being a child actor," the actress said. "There's a lot of money and attention thrown at you, and then, you know, a lot of kid actors don't become adult actors and then that all goes away and that's hard to deal with."

"Hannibal" airs on Fridays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
