Less than a month after becoming the latest Kennedy to be elected to office, Joseph Kennedy III got married to fiancée Lauren Birchfield on Saturday.
Kennedy, 32, and Birchfield, 28, tied the knot in front of family and friends at Community Church in Corona del Mar, Calif., according to a statement from his office. The wedding was officiated by Birchfield’s father, Rev. Jim Birchfield. Kennedy met Birchfield when they attended Harvard Law School together.
“The bride and groom are extremely grateful for all the well wishes and for the outpouring of support and friendship they have received this year,’’ the couple said in a statement released by his office.

Kennedy, won 61 percent of the vote on Nov. 6 to represent Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District. A Kennedy had been in elected office for 63 straight years before Patrick Kennedy retired in 2010.
