Anyone who's seen Taylor Swift's video for her single "22" off of her latest "Red" album would have watched a preternaturally lovely young woman in perfect makeup dancing around with her similarly lovely leggy friends having a delightful time eating cake, waving pom-poms, cuddling up on the beach as the sun rises, bouncing on trampolines and wearing too-adorable cat ears while partying with her buds.
All this while singing about "feeling 22" years old.
Yeah, right, says Conan O'Brien. In a recent "video response," the host of "Conan" is equal parts funny and deeply personal as he points out that Swift's video has virtually nothing to do with actually being 22. "I know what it's like to be 22," says the 50-year-old. "I don't think that that's an accurate representation of being 22."
He then goes on to talk about how 22 is about living in a crummy apartment, eating Ramen noodles, getting excited to go see the new movie "St. Elmo's Fire" (around here is where the whole response starts getting personal) and buying a cheap car with a broken air conditioner.
"You're a freak so no one talks to you," said O'Brien. "You just sit in your apartment, you watch 'Saved by the Bell' and eat Ramen noodles. Occasionally you spice it up by having Lucky Charms."
Okay, so that might not be everybody's experience of being 22. But it's a darn sight more realistic than the adorable vision presented by Swift. Check out the video for more.
