Dream of looking like the queen of boudoir glamour, Dita Von Teese, in the comfort of your own home? Well, now you can.
The burlesque star has a new line of lingerie, launching this week at Bloomingdale's, which draws inspiration from sexy, classic styles of the past.
Von Teese credits her own extensive vintage lingerie drawer and burlesque memorabilia collection for the influence on her designs. She shared a few of her favorites with TODAY, including the "Madame X" bra (based on a drawing out of a '50s French lingerie catalog), "Sheer Witchery" (which revives the '70s and '80s cult classic demi-cup), and "Her Sexcellency", an homage to early burlesque star Sally Rand’s famous tagline.
These are items that “beg to be shown,” said Von Teese, who encourages the pieces to be worn interchangeably as outer or underwear.
Before launching her career as a performer, Von Teese spent years working in a lingerie store and offers these tips for women looking to spice up their underwear closet:
- Find a size that fits, and if you don’t like the number, cut the tags!
- Buy in sets so you have different options to mix and match. Extra points for trying different styles.
- And finally — you’ve gotta wear it, so why not enjoy the experience and have fun.
