Saul is getting a lot of calls these days: The "Breaking Bad" breakout character has already been set up for a spin-off prequel, but according to portrayer Bob Odenkirk, "Saul" might be a sequel, too.

Yes, both could happen. As Odenkirk told IGN in a new interview, "I've talked to Vince (Gilligan) and Peter (Gould), who are writing and creating the series, about this and I've said that a lot of people do want to see what happens next to Saul. So, I don’t know what they’re going to do. I know they've talked about (a) prequel, but they've also talked to me about (a) sequel, and they've also talked to me about a mix of prequel and sequel."

While a prequel might explore how sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman became the man who would eventually cross paths with Walter White, a post-"Bad" sequel would set up numerous other possibilities.

The actor estimated that writers will begin penning the series by the end of November. But will it be a deeply serious drama with elements of dark levity, the way "Bad" was, or will it feed more into Odenkirk's traditional comedy background?

"It's going to be 70 percent drama and 30 percent comedy," he promised.

Still, it will be a unique creation, whether it's a prequel, sequel or hybrid. "I told Peter and Vince ... 'Look, man, let us make this fresh for everyone.' So that right away, in the first five minutes, every viewer goes, 'Oh, this isn't 'Breaking Bad,' this is its own thing.' And I think they feel the exact same way."

Which probably means that whichever way things go, don't expect a young Mr. White or flashbacks to Heisenberg to pop up too frequently. "There might be a cameo here or there, but I don't know," he said. "We're going to do a new show."
