Big hairy deal! Oprah wigs out with giant Afro on magazine cover

There's barely enough room for the one-letter title of Oprah Winfrey's O magazine on its September cover. That's because the talk-show host and magazine founder is posing with an enormous Afro wig on, and the wig blooms out over nearly a third of the cover.

It's not Winfrey's real hair, but she loves it all the same. "Just revealed this new cover of o_magazine — 1 of my faves ever — Let's talk about HAIR!" she tweeted on Monday.

She wasn't kidding: Later that day, Winfrey tweeted, "Love this cover so much, I'm making it my new avatar," and went on to do just that.

The Huffington Post reports that the wig weighs between 3 to 5 pounds, or "about the size of a small Chihuahua," and that it was delivered to the photo shoot wrapped in bubble wrap inside its own custom-made pink box.

Winfrey's stylist, Andre Walker, said he thought he'd have to create the wig himself but instead borrowed it from Beyoncé's stylist. (No word on if Beyoncé ever wore it.)

Fans reacted positively. "This pic looks like PURE FUN!!! Love it!" wrote Lonnell Williams.

And Malika Garrett tweeted, "Definitely will make us all smile!! Looks like you had a great time with it. Super!!"

The magazine hits newsstands Tuesday.
