2-for-2! Al Roker gets thumbs-up, handshake from Obama and Biden at parade

A thumbs-up from the president and a handshake from the vice president - all in a day's work for Al Roker.

Challenged by NBC News anchor Brian Williams to get the first interview with the president since his second inauguration, TODAY's intrepid weatherman was able to grab Obama's attention during the inaugural parade on Monday before yelling, "How's it going? Is the weather good?"

Obama responded with a thumbs-up and a smile, then turned his palms outward, looked up and noted, "The weather's great." Williams jokingly decided that it counted as an "interview'' because a question was asked and answered.

This isn't the first time Al has gotten the president to give him a quick weather update on the parade route. During Obama's first inauguration parade in 2009, he told Al, "It's warm,'' as he walked down Pennsylvania Avenue on a sunny day.

After getting an "interview'' with Obama, Roker was again challenged by Williams to "double down'' on his luck and grab a moment with Biden. The vice president responded by coming over and shaking Al's hand over the barricade. After going two-for-two, Roker gave a mic drop and walked away saying "I'm done!''

"That's a thrill,'' Roker later said. "A kid from Queens getting acknowledged by the president and vice president."
