In Mophie's Super Bowl ad, the world ends not with a bang, but a cellphone dying.

The spot, "All Powerless," has got some of the most impressive visuals and creativity seen so far in the big ads released online in advance of the big game. Hurricanes hit Nebraska, a tree bursts into flames, a businessman is walked by a dog, and the loss of gravity sucks the world's oceans into space.

The ad agency behind the spot is Deutsch L.A, which also made Volkswagen's 2011 Super Bowl ad hit, "The Force."

Pete Favat, chief creative officer at Deutsch L.A., said the idea for the spot came out of focus groups where customers related how losing the power on their phone made them feel.

"It's like your whole world goes to hell," he said. "It shows how addicted we've become."

To really go for the epic and cinematic feeling, the piece, directed by Christopher Riggert, is sprinkled with imagery that touches on biblical references. The flaming tree, for instance, echoes a certain burning bush and instead of frogs falling from the sky, fish do. (Those fish aren't CGI either, the crew launched a school of rubber fish for the shot.)

There's a twist at the end and a version of God has his own spot of trouble.

"We were looking for the coolest looking person on camera and he just nailed it," said Favat. "I refer to him as 'God with really awesome hair.'"
