T-Mobile just published its monthly pay-as-you-go pricing for the new iPhones. Qualified customers can buy an iPhone 5C for zero down plus 24 monthly payments of $22, totaling $528. A similar plan for the iPhone 5S requires a $99 down payment, plus $22.91 per month, leading to a grand total of $648.84.
This pricing is somewhat lower than the international pricing we discussed yesterday — $50 less than the Canadian price, and $200 less than the China price tag — but the iPhone 5C would have to cost a lot less than this to be considered "cheap."
That said, a "free" iPhone 5C that you pay for over time will likely appeal to many who also like T-Mobile's cheaper monthly plans. T-Mobile is not taking pre-orders yet, but is now allowing customers to be notified — by filling in a form on the links above — as soon as the phones do go on sale. Wild guess: Friday, Sept. 20.
