Got a cellphone full of mobile apps? Odds are you aren't responsible for all the downloaded software. In fact, if you've been letting your kids download anything, they're probably to blame for about a third of all the apps on your device.

Information gathering company Nielsen collected data on mobile phone usage and decided to share a few details with us recently. Based on the early look at this information, we're able to see that children are often responsible for their parents' app downloading habits — right along with spouses or partners.

When surveyed individuals were asked whether anyone else downloaded apps to their cellphones, 13 percent responded that their spouses or partners did, 8 percent cited their children, 6 percent blamed other family members, and another 6 percent claimed friends were at fault for some of the apps.

Those who responded that their kids occasionally downloaded apps were then asked approximately what percentage of the apps on their devices had been downloaded by their children. The average answer was 30 percent.

Given this information and the knowledge that the average earliest age at which kids started mooching off their parents mobile app store accounts appeared to be nine, we're beginning to wonder if it might be necessary to have a talk about the Angry Birds and the bees kids nowadays.
