The charismatic “salesman of the century” and inventor of the Veg-O-Matic and Showtime Standard Rotisserie and BBQ Oven, who made billions inventing and selling kitchen contraptions on TV, has listed his estate at 5100 San Marcos Pass Road, Santa Barbara, for just under $5 million.

The expansive and historic Rancho Quinta Ladera, which was granted by President William McKinley in 1898, is a little piece of the Wild West just 15 minutes out of downtown Santa Barbara, said listing agent Troy Hoidal.

Popeil, who also owns a home in Beverly Hills, bought the ranch in 2007 for $2.1 million. The historic property was a fishing lodge at first, with the San Ynez River running past it. Later, it became a gentleman’s Western resort for hunting and fishing, Hoidal said.

But wait, there’s more: The adobe five-bedroom- three-bath home has fireplaces and lots of natural light, including skylights in the kitchen. But the property is what is really being marketed, with 100-mile views of the San Rafael Wilderness and the Topatopa Mountain.

“You feel like you’re in the great Wild West,” said Hoidal.
