Never before have smartphones been so cute. LG is going after the children's market with its new line of Aka phones, released today in South Korea.

Like those Tamagotchi toys from the '90s, these little guys have their own names and personalities. Meet Yoyo, Soul, Wooky and Eggy.

They have little eyes that look out from the back of the phone, which get heavy when they are low on power and react when you wave your hand near the front-facing camera. It's like a pet, except you can take selfies with it.

About those selfies: users can pose next to a digitally inserted version of their phone's character, making for a fun or creepy Instagram photo, depending on the age of the person using the phone.

Get tired of one character? The swappable shells come equipped with microchips that change the phone's personality.

As for the actual phone, it has some decent specs, with a 5-inch, 720p display and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Sadly, children in the United States will have to entertain themselves with their plain old iPhones. LG has not announced whether the Aka phones will launch in any other countries besides South Korea.
