Santa and the kids were extra nice this holiday season — over 20 million iPads were sold. Now that they have their electronics, it's to make sure they're using the best apps. Here, Liz Gumbinner, the publisher of Cool Mom Tech shares the four best apps for toddlers, preschoolers and tweens.

Human Body app, $2.99

This app allows you to explore a working model of the body. Every part is animated and interactive: the heart beats, guts gurgle, lungs breathe, the skin feels, and eyes see. It is designed for kids ages 4+ and to help them discover what we're made of and how we work.

Math Racer app, $4.99 a month

It's one of the newest iOS apps and what's so special is that like with their Starring You Books app, you can upload your kid's face so it appears in all the apps making them that much more fun. The app is free with sample content or you can get unlimited content and access to the entire portfolio of 15 apps for $4.99 a month.

Shadow puppet, $2.99

My kids are really interested in playing around with the photos in my photo library and the Shadow Puppet app lets kids as young as four (but it is also great for grade-schoolers) put together a montage of photos and their own narration. It's a perfect way to share birthdays or vacations with grandparents.

DOTS: A game about connecting, Free

DOTS is a great, easy game for kids, that adults will love too. The main objective is to connect dots in a grid in the longest line possible. What's cool is the outcome often looks like a Damien Hirst painting. You can also get competitive by syncing it with your Twitter and Facebook account so you can play your friends.
