Facebook facial recognition gets 'animated'

If you're creeped out by Facebook's facial recognition program — under fire this week by European regulators — Taiwanese animation company NMA has a thing or two to share with you about that (including the outrage being "ironic, considering the pervasive nature of public surveillance in Europe.")

And, as we explained in December when Facebook rolled out the app in the U.S., you can turn off the "photo tag suggestions" feature, for which facial recognition is used.

Still, the program seems to be kicking up a lot of dust, and there's no entity better to take it on than NMA, known for its caustic comedy on such events as Tiger Woods' Thanksgiving Day car accident, Mark Zuckerberg being stalked and Lindsay Lohan's jail time.
