Mark Zuckerberg announced on Saturday night that his New Year's resolution will be to read a new book every two weeks.
“I’m excited for my reading challenge. I’ve found reading books very intellectually fulfilling,” Zuckerberg wrote in a post. “Books allow you to fully explore a topic and immerse yourself in a deeper way than most media today.”
But just how Zuckerberg invited members on the social media platform to share what they wanted his New Year's resolution to be, the Facebook founder has again asked for users on the social network's involvement. He invited his 30 million Facebook followers to join his resolution through a new Facebook page called "A Year of Books."
The group, which already has more than 100,000 likes, will act like an Facebook book club, where Zuckerberg will post what he's reading and users can discuss the books. "Please only participate in the discussions if you've actually read the books and have relevant points to add," Zuckerberg wrote in his Facebook post announcement. "The group will be moderated to keep it focused."
Zuckerberg's first book will be The End of Power by Moisés Naím, which Zuckerberg says he chose because: "It’s a book that explores how the world is shifting to give individual people more power that was traditionally only held by large governments, militaries and other organizations. The trend towards giving people more power is one I believe in deeply, and I’m looking forward to reading this book and exploring this in more detail."
As of Sunday evening, on Amazon, the book has already temporarily sold out in paperback, but is still available in both hardcover and Kindle versions.
