Now, almost eight years later, the Iranian-born exec who moved to New York as a child has finally punched a “sold” ticket for something high in the Manhattan skyline: His sprawling Upper West Side condo.

Khosrowshahi’s four-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment residence sold for $9.15 million, but not to just any buyer. The Orwell House apartment’s sale comes with a good plotline. He sold the abode to the author of the Jack Reacher book series, whose real name is Jim Grant but who’s more commonly known by the pen name Lee Child. Talk about inspirational writing chambers!

Standing tall at 257 Central Park West, the brick Orwell House was built in 1906 and fronts Central Park West between 85th and 86th streets.

Jim Grant’s millions bought him a host of premium space and high-end amenities, including a formal foyer; a large chef’s kitchen that opens to the family room all finished in Carrera marble, stainless steel, custom cabinetry and top-of-the-line appliances.

Author Jim Grant will have a large chef's kitchen to fuel his writing, after buying this Upper West Side condo for $9.15 million.

The master suite has breathtaking views of Central Park; there’s a library and two additional bedrooms down a private hallway.

According to Streeteasy, which states that the original list price for the apartment was $9.45 million, The Orwell House contains 89 apartments ranging in size from 1.5 rooms to 8.5 rooms. Many of the apartments feature views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The building amenities include attended lobby, children’s playroom, central laundry, bike room and small private garage.
