Budweiser has proven once again that it's the King of Beers when it comes to tugging at our heart strings with the use of animals in advertising.
In a new spot titled "Friends Are Waiting," the beer giant employs a yellow lab puppy to demonstrate the importance of not drinking and driving.
The ad shows a young man sharing good times with his dog and his friends — and his favorite beer. One day, the guy and a group of pals walk out to a waiting car with six-packs in tow. Just before leaving, he says to the dog, "See you later, buddy."
The ad's happy jingle — "A lifetime is not long enough, to show you what you mean to me ... " — turns to a sad strumming of the guitar as we see the dog whimpering, wondering when his friend will come home.
"Make a plan to make it home. Your friends are counting on you," the spot says at the end. And keep a box of tissues nearby, as it plays out like a reverse of the book "Marley and Me."
The video has already racked up more than 7 million views since it was posted to YouTube on Friday in honor of the brand's Global Be(er) Responsible Day.
During Super Bowl XLVIII, Budweiser also used a lab puppy — and those famous Clydesdale horses — to demonstrate the bond between man and his best friend.
