We all like to think we'd support our kids in whatever way they need it, especially when it's a school project.

But would you agree to lie about the fact that your teen daughter is pregnant, all in the name of a social experiement?

That's the decision Juanita Rodriguez had to make when her 17-year-old daughter Gaby wanted to do a daring senior project. For the past 6 1/2 months, the Yakima, Wash., A-student faked that she was pregnant. She wore a homemade prosthetic "bulge," made out of wire mesh and cotton quilt batting, and the only people who knew about it were her mom, her boyfriend and the school principal.

Gaby's goal was to study the stereotypes, rumors and statistics that accompany teen pregnancy.

She revealed her hoax this week by taking off her faux belly at an emotional all-school assembly, the Yakima Herald-Republic reported.

There's no question about the fact that Gaby is one gutsy, courageous teen. But in order to pull off her stunt, she had to lie to family members, including her six siblings and her boyfriend's parents -- who thought they were expecting a grandson!

Rodriguez agreed it was difficult to lie to the family and said "it didn't feel good," but she felt she needed to back her daughter.

School principal Trevor Greene told the newspaper:

"In essence, she gave up her senior year," he says. "She sacrificed her senior year to find out what it would be like to be a potential teen mom. I admire her courage. I admire her preparation. I give her mother a lot of credit for backing her up on this."

But would Greene do the same for his own child? "I have a daughter that will be here next year, and I would not let her do it."

Gaby will present her final report before graduation. In the meantime, she is excited she doesn't have to go to prom pregnant, and looks forward to wearing a form-fitting gown.

What do you think? Would you let your teen pretend that she was pregnant?
