Texas teen Lauren Bush may be young, but this compassionate and creative 14-year-old is wise beyond her years in showing other kids that words mean a lot when it comes to bullying.
Lauren shot and edited a video called "Word Play" that dramatizes the impact of negative words. In the video, a young school girl is labeled, literally, as a "loser" and "stupid" by her classmates.
But then the 2-minute film shows how the depressed and bullied girl's demeanor changes when another girl labels her as "sophisticated" and "pretty."
"I wasn't shocked," said Lauren's proud mom, Shannon Bush. "She's pretty creative and compassionate."
The video, which Lauren produced in two hours for her middle school film class, took first place in the "Unite Against Bullying Commercial Challenge. The USA Network re-created her piece as a public service announcement debuting today.
"It really was just to inspire people that one person can make a difference," Lauren told TODAY.
The teen wants to be a professional dancer when she gets older, but says after her quick success, she may consider a career in media as a side job.
