'Scary Mommy' answers your parenting questions on TODAY

April 3, 2013 at 4:12 PM ET

There are plenty of places to get earnest parenting advice.

But let’s be honest – sometimes the “expert” advice just doesn’t cut it. Sometimes you just want The Truth. No matter how scary it is.

So, we are turning to the perfect source – none other than Jill Smokler, aka Scary Mommy – who, as we discovered in her last book “Confessions of a Scary Mommy,” talks about parenting for real.

In “Confessions,” Smokler admitted she joined a gym just for the free day care. “I drop the kids off and read magazines and blogs in the locker room.”

Video: Blogger Jill Smokler jokes with Billy Ray Cyrus, country singer and father of pop star Miley Cyrus, saying that she hears her book, “Confessions of a Scary Mommy,” can scare off thoughts of motherhood.

With her new book coming out next week, “Motherhood Comes Naturally (and Other Vicious Lies)," Smokler will appear on TODAY and would love to respond to questions from TODAY Moms readers.

Send us any parenting questions that you’d like answered with a bit of humor from someone who’s been there, done that. And be creative! You can put your question in the comments below or on the TODAY Moms Facebook page.

To inspire you, here are some confessions readers contributed on Smokler's Scary Mommy website:

“The intention was to sneeze gracefully with my face covered. The execution? Right as I sneezed I had to grab my crotch to keep from peeing myself. These are not the mom decisions I envisioned.”

“I bought myself an iPhone six months ago. I wonder if my son will ever let me use it.”

“I made my two-year-old make a sad face while I took a picture and then sent it to my mom and said the face was made be- cause she missed her grandma. Really I just needed a break and wanted my mom to babysit.”

“If mother was a paid position, I would be SO fired.”
