Family financial challenges, or an impending move, are both situations that should be shared with kids, but it’s important to keep things in context

Even marriage troubles can be shared, but some things should remain private. Kids don’t need to know the cause of troubles, but do need to know how it is going to impact them or whether anything is going to change.
