You don’t mess with the Mama Bear – or the Papa Bear! TODAY Show has amazing video of a couple who reacted on instinct when a carjacker tried to steal their car with their baby in the backseat. Melanie and Aaron Richman put their 6-month-old daughter in her car seat and turned around to talk to their relatives for a few minutes, leaving the car running so the baby would stay warm. What happened next was caught on a security camera: A man slips into the car and peels out; both parents dive for the car; Melanie breaks the passenger window with her elbow; Aaron dives into the passenger seat as Melanie, unwilling to let go, is briefly dragged. Aaron kicked the carjacker in the head until the car crashed into an embankment, and the thief ran off. Luckily, everyone was OK, except for a nasty-looking bruise on Melanie’s arm. Yes, they now know they should never leave a baby unattended in the car – they learned that lesson the hard way. But their story is a great example of how ordinary people can act with extraordinary strength and courage to protect their children. What do you think of this video?
