Coming to grips with bullying

Oct. 27, 2010 at 10:51 AM ET

While it seems in recent months that bullying in our nation’s schools has experienced a disquieting uptick, a new survey of high school students' attitudes and conduct shows that bullying has simply become part of their lives. Moreover, nearly half of those students admitted to being involved in the aggressive torment themselves. While the basic elements of bullying haven’t changed over the years, the tools available to those enacting such behaviors are more sophisticated and invasive than ever. As such, the effects of bullying have become more harmful and more serious.

Parents, have you spoken with your own children about bullying? What are their thoughts? Are you surprised by the findings of this survey? Watch the video and share your thoughts in the comment section.
