An 8-year-old Tampa, Fla., girl has pretty much clinched the “best sister” award after she helped deliver her baby brother at home while awaiting paramedics to arrive.

“I was a little freaked out,” young Jazmine McEnaney admits now of having to call 911 for the first time and then getting walked through the delivery by a very calm emergency dispatcher, Emily Hall.

"Are you the only one with your mom right now?" Hall asked her during the 911 call Monday morning.

She was. Her mom, Krystle Garcia, had just gone into labor but the baby insisted on making his arrival before emergency responders could reach the scene.

“I’m getting help on the way for you right now. Stay on the line,” said Hall, a 22-year veteran with the Tampa office.

But Garcia told Hall that wouldn't be soon enough.

“Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, the head’s coming out,” she said.

Hall then calmly coached both women through the birth.

“Tell Jazmine to support the baby’s head and shoulders,” she said.

Baby Joseph James Snyder, or JJ as he will be called, arrived safely and was listed in good condition. Hall met with the family a day later at the hospital.

“Congratulations, hero,” Hall told Jazmine while giving the girl a hug, and then added with a whisper, “My little hero.”
