American couples spent an average of $28,427 on weddings last year, and a number of them are going into the red to do so. Perhaps this kind of overspending could be avoided if they'd only be willing to shop at a certain red big box store instead.
Target is now offering low-cost gowns for the whole wedding party, the retailer announced this week. The average bride spends about $1200 on her dress, but the Target frocks start at $99.99.
Kathie Lee and Hoda mulled the idea of marriage by "Tarjay" on Thursday, and declared the whole thing a marvelous idea and the actual dresses "cute."
The chain has a long history of collaborating with marquee designers, so itdoesn't seem beyond the range of possibility that their wedding dresses wouldbe stylish, but will people be willing to buy gowns at the same place they get their paper towels?
"They're great, they're affordable," said Kathie Lee, who noted the added convenience factor of being able to register for gifts and shop for your gown at the same time.
