Leftover Halloween candy got you feeling a little booooooo-loated? A leftover Halloween film may help.

In a new study commissioned by LoveFilm.com, researchers from the University of Westminster in the UK found that watching a horror movie can help you use up those calories. Here comes the science: being terrified and having your heart race is what burns calories. Apparently, watching "The Shining" burns 184 calories. "Jaws" is also apparently very good for scaring yourself skinny, clocking in at 161 calories.

Kathie Lee admitted to having "the bejillicus" scared out of her by "The Exorcist," which the study estimates burns 158 calories.

What do you think? When you're terrified, do you lose your appetite or reach for the comforting warmth of nachos?

Julieanne Smolinski is a TODAY.com contributor who is off to watch every horror movie ever made.
