The TODAY.com show has gotten a Daytime Emmy! It received this special honor for the category New Approaches for Daytime Entertainment.

Back in March 2011, TODAY.com live-streamed (or, as Kathie Lee called it, "stream-lived") a web-only program that ran simultaneously with TODAY on television. Kathie Lee and Hoda walked off the set and straight into our computer screens for a never-before attempted backstage look at every aspect of the show, giving viewers an interactive look inside the TODAY process, from producers to anchors to makeup. The whole thing went down live on TV, and it was awesome. (Ever seen the control room? It looks a lot like NASA.)

The Daytime Emmy award ceremony will be held on June 23 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. If you missed it, you can watch Kathie Lee and Hoda storm the control room, Meredith send her first tweet, Al host a backstage sing-a-long, and more.
