five-second-rule

One woman's trash is another's dessert, KLG and Hoda agree

Every few years, the nice people at Clorox do a study to remind us: There is no such thing as the "five-second rule," and it's not good to eat food off the floor. But during the chat this morning, Kathie Lee and Hoda wondered: What about the garbage?

Hoda admitted that she's occasionally thrown out a package of cookies, only to go back for more later, "Seinfeld"-style. Kathie Lee admitted that she's pulled things out of the trash, for other people to eat. Garbage snacking: We've all been there. OK, some of us.

But, if the threat of germs (or coffee grounds in your Milanos) isn't enough to keep you from diving into your own Dumpster, Hoda has a tip.

"You take detergent, or Dove, or anything, and you pour it on top," said Hoda. "It's the only way."
