When it comes to lobster rolls, there are two kinds of people who love them: The mayos and the butters.

Celebrity chefs Barbara Lynch, Marc Murphy, and Luke Holden staged a mini-throwdown Monday to put Kathie Lee and Hoda's tastes to the test.

The contest was a warm up for TastingTable.com's upcoming Lobster Roll Rumble, a charity event that benefits Share Our Strength.

You can't really go wrong with delicious sea bug sandwiches, so how to pick a winner? It all came down to the sauce. Barbara and Marc chose mayo-based dressings, but Luke (a native Mainer, which may have been his edge) took home the gold when he chose to hit his roll with just a little melted butter, which ended up being the clincher.

"If I could only stop eating for one second," said KLG (we think).

There's not really a whole lot a ladle of melted butter won't win you with these ladies, but which do you prefer: mayo, or butter? Yes, it's like choosing between your favorite children, but weigh in!

Julieanne Smolinski is a TODAY.com contributor. She regularly agonizes over mayonnaise.
