Kathie Lee is out in LA this week, and a sensational headline in the New York Post declared that she'd been spotted getting her drink on at a lunch to celebrate Hoda's book launch despite her promise to abstain. "Kathie Lee quits 'dry' month," read the headline.

KLG called in from LA to explain herself to Hoda, along with Meredith Vieira, who's co-hosting in Kathie Lee's stead. Their month of abstinence from alcohol applies only to the Fourth Hour, KLG declared, and that means they're free to imbibe in their off-camera time.

In other words, when she's off the clock, Kathie Lee is allowed all the pinot grigio she wants. It's not a month with NO drinking, so she didn't fall off the wagon like the Post claimed.

"We'd never agree to that!" said Hoda. "We're not crazy."

"That's only an hour a day of not drinking," said Meredith skeptically.

Well, Meredith, that's not very fair. You're not counting the time when they're sleeping.
