An article in the latest Marie Claire suggests that fewer women are tying the knot because they already get all of the emotional support they need from their female friendships. So Wednesday morning, Kathie Lee and Hoda wondered: Are girlfriends the new husbands?
These two may not be the right people to ask, as they're probably the closest thing America has to a perfect couple. But Hoda agreed with the theory, saying that it's often easier to talk to a lady friend than to a guy.
"Men are problem solvers," she reasoned, adding that, sometimes, you just want to talk things out and have fun without ever coming to any kind of big momentous conclusion, which is her preferred method of stress relief. (Luckily, it is also sort of her day job.) Girlfriends are good for chatter, she argued, and aren't always trying to "fix" things.
"But if you're married to the same person for long enough, you get to the point where he doesn't want to fix anything," added KLG.
Sometimes we're close enough to our friends to feel like we should get tax write-offs for being with them, too. But what do you think? Tell us below in the comments below.
