Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb want to clarify one thing about their appearance last week on Anderson Cooper’s talk show: They did NOT force the man to drink.
In an effort to make the ladies feel more at home, the CNN correspondent had provided them with wine during their conversation. Cooper recounted the taping Monday on his show.
“I’m not a drinker, but just to be in the festive spirit, I had a glass as well,” he said. “Anyway, [Kathie Lee and Hoda] got me to drink, and I warned them that if I drank this glass of wine, I would get drunk. And I drank maybe four sips of that wine. I had like, half the glass. I was drunk.”
Cooper ended up visibly tipsy, giving everyone a laugh.
“You have to watch it, because he was really slurring," Hoda said. "You don’t know what he’s talking about. It was so good.”
But Kathie Lee, who jokingly called Cooper “a cheap date,” wants to set the record straight.
"We didn’t get him to drink," she said. "He’s a grown man. He makes his own choices.”
Hoda pointed out that "there was wine on his table and he drank it” willingly.
Both ladies noted that, overall, Cooper seemed to enjoy the experience.
“We gave him a little botox, too," Kathie Lee joked.
So Cooper may have been drunk on air, but at least he looked good while doing it. Watch the promo clip of their appearance below:
