Dulé Hill and the Hoda Kotb Tap Dancing Disaster

March 19, 2013 at 11:45 AM ET

There seems to be a pattern emerging on the Fourth Hour: guests are learning it's not a great idea to try teaching the ladies any dance moves other than their signature style, "sexy dancing to crazy pop music."

Actor Dulé Hill, who is also an excellent hoofer, was subbing in for Kathie Lee when he attempted to show Hoda some of his sweet tap dance moves. Despite her love of The Dance and her claim that she'd taken tap classes in third grade, our girl struggled a bit, to say the least. It could have been worse, maybe — like if ghosts could watch TV and one of them was Gene Kelly and he was crying so hard.

"Hoda, Hoda, Hoda," sighed Dulé, who tried to simplify things for her by making it so she just had to clap at one point. When this also proved too difficult, he just shook his head and sighed, "Wow, Hoda."

"I'm in heels!" she lamented.

Finally, she pulled out her Hail Mary — playing Pitbull and freak dancing. It wasn't tap, but it was certainly something.
