Know an awesome lady who isn't married yet? Maybe you should try setting her up on a date with a nice, handsome book.
Writer Tracy McMillan came by the show Tuesday to promote her new book, "Why You're Not Married Yet." She's something of a marriage expert, having been wedded thrice herself. After years of surviving heartbreak, Tracy decided it was high time she start sharing a little of what she learned out in the dating trenches.
"I'm just your best friend who's been through all kinds of stuff in relationships and I'm here to kind of tell you the real truth," she told Kathie Lee and Hoda.
Among the cardinal sins? Dating a guy who says he doesn't want to be in a relationship, or confusing being a strong woman with being what we'll politely call a "witch with a b."
One of the most glaring mistakes women make is "lying to themselves," says Tracy. Don't treat your relationships like a temp job that you hope will become full-time, because it's unlikely that a guy who doesn't want a girlfriend will change his mind.
She also advised women to be less shallow. "Ultimately, after the big muscles are gone, and the money goes away, it's really about character... Every person has something beautiful, and if you really shift your eyes into looking at the spiritual aspect of a person, you start to see the party that will last you for 20 or 30 years."
Hoda said the book was "a great read" and full of real talk.
"She might get married for the fourth time now!" said KLG. "We just wish her all the best."
