Ambush Makeover: From mom to 'supermodel'

Thursday’s Ambush Makeover uncovered two women “who didn’t have a clue about how glamorous they could be,” said beauty guru Louis Licari.

First up was Katie Meadows, a 30-year-old stay-at-home mother from Georgia, who partly caught the eye of TODAY producers because of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt worn by her husband.

Video: Hairstylist Louis Licari and TODAY contributor Jill Martin give head-to-toe makeovers to a mother of two from Georgia whose husband is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, as well as a woman from Oregon whose hairdresser has been trying to convince her for a new look.

Meadows was ready to chop off her long hair, but Licari decided to keep most of the length because he felt it appropriate for her 6-foot-2 frame. He lightened the color and added a few layers, but overall kept her new style natural so she wouldn’t have a problem maintaining it back home.

“Is that Katie or is that Gisele?” Licari said after her reveal. “This is a supermodel and she just didn’t know it.”

Meadows’ husband agreed.

“She’s always gorgeous, but she looks great,” he said, after wiping away tears. “You really do. You deserve it, babe.”

Next out was Teresa Hubbell, a 58-year-old Oregon resident who finally gave in to her hairstylist’s plea to color her hair.

That one simple change was enough to take years off her face, everyone agreed.

Along with giving Hubbella new sandy-blonde hue, Licari also moved her part over to the side and added a few more layers the top of her short hair.

The transformation prompted Kathie Lee to grab some tissues for Hubbell’s mom, who declared her daughter “gorgeous.”

Hubbell’s husband liked the look, although he said he posed a dilemma for him.

“I think I need a makeover because she looks like my daughter,” he said.
