Joey and Rory Feek are already enjoying the "magic that's in the air" during Christmas.

While Joey is "feeling really good" in hospice care, she and her husband are in awe of the generosity of those around them this holiday season, Rory wrote in an essay posted Friday to the couple's blog, This is Life.

Rory wrote how earlier this week, Joey suggested the family order in pizza from their local pizzeria, and ended up with more than a delicious dinner. Not only did the shop give the family their pizza for free, Rory wrote, but the owner of the store had a bag of gifts for the couple's 1-year-old daughter, Indiana.

"When I got back to the house, Joey’s sisters and I opened the bag and realized that those nice folks had bought and wrapped 25 separate presents (they’re all different books I think) for Indiana to open," he said. "One each day from December 1st, all the way through Christmas. What a beautiful, thoughtful thing to do."

Indiana opens one present each morning, Rory said, and on Friday Dec. 4, even got to open her present on her mom's lap.

Rory said this time of year is particularly special for the couple because of both Rory's love of the holiday, and the couple made a Christmas album, "Farmhouse Christmas." Rory said, "it's one of my favorite records that Joey and I've made."

As the family makes the most of the special time, Rory said that they moved to a bigger home last Sunday, one where Joey has a view of white geese, black swans and deer out of a window in the couple's bedroom.

"We have a Christmas tree and some decorations up and thanks to the nice folks at Pizza King, it’s starting to feel like Christmas," Rory wrote. "And not just any Christmas – a very special Christmas – one that we’ll never forget."

"Christmas does what no amount of New Years resolutions or self-help books can do… it changes people," he said. "It brings out the very best in us, and in others."
