Recipe: Grilled Gruyere Sandwich

Ingredients
  • For the onions:
  • 1 white onion
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Kosher salt
  • Pepper
  • For the sandwich:
  • 8 slices of rye bread
  • 8 slices of Gruyere cheese
  • 1 white onion caramelized (recipe above)
Preparation

Julienne white onion and toss with olive oil, kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Roast at 350 degrees until caramelized. Let cool. Place enough cheese to cover each inside of the rye bread. Spread a thin layer of roasted onions on one side of cheese. Cover with other piece of bread. Place sandwich in press and cook until sandwich is toasted.
