SLOAN, N.Y. (WKBW) A Level 3 registered sex offender has been arrested and charged with more sex crimes following a year long investigation by Cheektowaga Police.

The case began in July of 2013 when Village of Sloan residents alerted investigators that a sex offender had moved into their neighborhood.

Investigators say Matthew J. Borkowski, 40 years old, had moved into Sloan without notifying authorities of his change of address as required as a registered sex offender. Borkowski is accused of abusing several victims between the age of 13 to 17.

Borkowski was charged with Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree and Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree. Officers arrested Borkowski as he was leaving a residence on Sprucewood Drive in the Town of Cheektowaga. He has been arraigned and is currently being held in the Erie County Holding Center.
