ADAM SILVER, NBA COMMISSIONER: Effective immediately, I am banning Mr.
Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers Organization or
the NBA.

DONALD STERLING, OWNER OF THE LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS, NBA: Don`t come to my
games. Don`t bring black people, and don`t come.

SILVER: The hateful opinions voiced by that man are those of Mr. Sterling.

V. STIVIANO, ALLEGED GIRLFRIEND OF THE LA CLIPPERS OWNER: But you can
change yourself.

STERLING: I don`t want to change.

SILVER: This has been a painful moment for all members of the NBA family.

BARACK OBAMA, 44TH AND CURRENT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:
He`s got an awful lot of after America players.

STIVIANO: Do you know that you have a whole team that`s black, that plays
for you?

STERLING: You just, do I know? I support them and give them food, and
clothes, and cars, and houses.

SILVER: Sentiment of this kind are contrary to the principles of inclusion
and respect that formed the foundation of our diverse, multicultural and
multiethnic lead.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Is this a slippery slope?

SILVER: Whether or not these remarks were initially shared in private and
now public.

SCHULTZ: Good to have you with us tonight folks. Thanks for watching.

You could make the case that most Americans don`t even follow sports. Back
in the day when I was doing sports, I used to be told by the general
manager, "You know, only 20 percent of the people care about what you`re
talking about, Schultz." I don`t know what the numbers are today but I
would venture to say that this is probably the most spotlights that the NBA
has had on it in a long, long time and for all the wrong reasons.

But today, what we witnessed was a young executive stepping out in front of
the cameras and the country paying attention to the NBA and he gave us a
clinic on crisis management. I didn`t know who Adam Silver was until last
week when I found out he was the new commissioner of the NBA.

Well, Adam Silver stepped to the microphone today and basically gave a very
good demonstration on how to blackball somebody. And that`s what it is,
he`s gone in an unprecedented move for the league. Donald Sterling has
been thrown out of professional basketball.

SILVER: The central findings of the investigation are that the man whose
voice is heard on the recording and on a second recording from the same
conversation that was released on Sunday is Mr. Sterling, and that the
hateful opinions voiced by that man those of Mr. Sterling.

The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful.
Effective immediately, I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any
association with the Clippers Organization or the NBA. Mr. Sterling may
not attend any NBA games or practices, he may not be present at any
Clippers facility, and he may not participate in any business or player
personnel decisions involving the team. He will also be barred from
attending NBA Board of Governors meetings or participating in any other
league activity.

I am also fining Mr. Sterling $2.5 million, the maximum amount allowed
under the NBA constitution. These funds will be donated to organizations
dedicated to anti-discrimination and tolerance efforts that will be jointly
selected by the NBA and its players association.

As for Mr. Sterling`s ownership interest in the Clippers, I will urge the
Board of Governors to exercise its authority to force a sale of the team
and I will do everything in my power to ensure that that happens.

SCHULTZ: That`s called putting a hammer down folks. Silver got instant
support from friends of the league, Magic Johnson. No bigger name than him
in the game of yesteryear.

Commissioner Silver showed great leadership in banning LA Clippers owner
Donald Sterling for life. And of course under NBA rules, Sterling still
owns the team, the LA Clippers, he must be voted out by three quarters
majority of the other team owners. Silver feels confident that he`s going
to get the owners to see it the way he wants it. It`s not just the NBA
taking action against Sterling, advertisers and sponsors are dropping deals
with the Clippers as fast as you can say their name.

As of today, at least 13 companies have ended their advertising agreements
with the Clippers. If you think money doesn`t talk, think again. The
companies include Adidas, big time, Adidas. State Farm, Red Bull, Sprint,
KIA, Mercedes Benz and Corona just to name a few.

The NBA community has been very clear on where they stand on Sterling.
Everyone involved with professional basketball is outraged by this man`s
racist, despicable comments.

Meanwhile, leave it to Fox New, Fox News asking the question at the press
conference of Silver during today`s press conference. Check this out.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Jovy Anne (ph) with Fox News`s "The Kelly File",
should someone lose their team from remarks, shared, and private? Is this
a slippery slope?

SILVER: Whether or not this remark we`re initially shared in private, they
are now public and they represent his views.

SCHULTZ: Well, you could be rendering the judgment on this but I would say
leave it to Fox News to figure out a way to stand up for a racist
billionaire. There`s no room in society behind doors or out in front of
the public for what this guy says and thinks because times have changed,
you know, Major League sports you can say is kind of the social guide of
America in many respects.

Major League sports has had to deal with this before but maybe not at this
level. Of course there was Marge Schott in baseball, there was Al Campanis
who made a comment to Ted Koppel on Nightline back in 1987. Swiftly, both
of them gone. It took longer for Marge Schott. Let`s not forget Jimmy
"The Greek". CBS took a few days but they got rid of him and he didn`t do
anymore NFL commentating.

Times have changed and how it`s changed is that these advertisers have
stepped up in a big, big way. You can say that the NBA made the
calculation not only are they are a social league and they represent so
much when it comes to reflecting society with their diversity but it`s also
a business and it is about the money. And this guy Sterling is real bad
for business because when advertisers like this start cancelling the
landscape changes and that can become contagious. And of course there`s
the player react as well.

Back the examples that I just cited, players really didn`t say too much
back then, they did this time. And then there is thing called social
media. That was never around back in those days when those three people
that I cited were pushed out of professionals sports.

So, we today live in a fishbowl more so than ever. What we say, what we
think it`s all out there and there has to be a social acceptability to it
and it is connected to people who were going to connect to the people who
were saying it. And if you think that isn`t real in this business, go ask
Rush Limbaugh how that Sandra Fluke thing is working out for him. How many
other talkers have had to struggle because so many people have left that
genre? Go ask Fox News if they really like to have the ratings of Glenn
Beck but doggone it, they just couldn`t sell the guy.

Wouldn`t you say people take the heart and what this guy said was a real
tarnish on the league? The league did the character thing. They did the
right thing. They did what they had to do. They did what they should have
done and maybe they`ve made a statement. Maybe more people will wake up
and maybe more people will respect professional sports realizing what an
impact they have on our society.

Rev, good to have you with us tonight.

REVEREND AL SHARPTON, POLITICS NATION HOST: Glad to be here, Ed.

SCHULTZ: Yeah, your thoughts on this? Just right of the top, your
impressions of what happened today.

SHARPTON: I though it was a very bold move. I thought it was appropriate.
When you have an owner that could say something as ugly and racist as this,
when we were called on Saturday and took a public position and started
saying to advertisers, we have fought battles as you know before I was
involved in Marge Schott, but what Adam Silver did today was bolder and
more swift. I just spoke with him about 15 minutes ago and he`s agreed to
me with other Civil Rights leaders and myself to talk about our concerns
about now that this move has been made, an unprecedented move how other
things put in place in the NBA and then hopefully throughout sports that
will never bring us to this place again.

I think that the fact that the owners he said to me are going to stand with
him that he`s confident, that this team will be sold, I think it gives us a
very serious teaching moment. But the question now is what would we put in
emplace and how do we use this to challenge all of industries that we
cannot have this kind of poison at the levels of CEOs and owners that make
decisions on people`s lives.

SCHULTZ: So Rev., what would you like to see the league do? What does the
league need to do to remedy this in the future?

SHARPTON: Well, obviously if you have a man that has -- had discrimination
subsidies at the center that has made comments before, that you have people
of the reputation of an Elgin Baylor saying he ran a plantation.
Obviously, there needs to be a more vetting, there needs to be more
diversity, there needs to be ways these things to add and dealt within
advance. I don`t want to give a five point program tonight --

SCHULTZ: Sure.

SHARPTON: -- when meeting with the chairman of the Congressional black
caucus and --

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

SHARPTON: -- headed urban league, headed an AACP and I am from National
Action Network. We`re going to talk about this as well as other issues and
go to Silver and hopefully other witness. But I think this is a great
moment and we must make it lead to good things and I think when you see
people like Magic Johnson stand up all the way to LeBron and others. I
remember when we use have to fight these battles and the players wouldn`t
say anything.

I think it was unprecedented that Magic and LeBron and others came forward
that the Heat teams stood with this team. I think we saw how far we`ve
come in this country but we still have farther to go to make sure that this
is an admiration not just something that we just got by --

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

SHARPTON: -- until the next incident.

SCHULTZ: Rev., do you think number one, the owners will vote him out? And
do you think that our minority owner needs to own LA Clippers?

SHARPTON: I think the owners will vote him out after my conversation with
Adam a few minutes ago. I think that he seemed confident and I think that
he would have a better parameter (ph) than I do. I think they would be
making a terrible statement if they went against the NBA Commissioner
Silver. And in terms of minority, I think it would be something that would
add to the league. We only have one minority owner now in Michael Jordan.

I think that if you really want to have something that some would call
ironic, I would call something else. Supposed if Magic Johnson did get to
own that team, the one that he didn`t even want in the place.

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

SHARPTON: I think that would show how far we`ve come.

SCHULTZ: OK, Rev. Al Sharpton, Politics Nation follows this program from

SHARPTON: Thank you.

SCHULTZ: Joining me now via the telephone is Paul Swangard. He was the
director of Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon. There are
certainly is a financial impact to this whether the league could withstand
it or not remains to be seen. Certainly, the Clippers we`re going to be
hurt by it.

Paul, thank for your time tonight. What impact will this have on the
Clippers brand? Are they going to be able to recover and do you -- is it
normal for them to be able to get the sponsors back? How do you think
they`ll react to this swift action by the NBA Commissioner?

PAUL SWANGARD, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR UNIVERSITY OF OREGON: Well, I think it
started with the swift action of the business community stepping forward
before the decision was made today to break ties with the Clippers that
send a very strong message to the rest of the league ownership that
something needed to happen.

So I, you know, I fully expect businesses that want to associate themselves
to the Clippers will come back but only if as the commissioner said today
they can rid themselves of the ownership that currently resides down there.

SCHULTZ: If Sterling sells the team, will it help?

SWANGARD: Almost certainly it will, and I think this is the culmination of
a long history of a lot of people surrounding the business of the NBA that
really felt that this was one of the weakest ownerships if not in the NBA
alone and professional sports in general. And, you know, I guess the sad
part in this whole situation is he`s going to run away with probably one of
the richest team deals, you know, in the history of professional sports
that will be a very coveted franchise and if the Board of Governors follows
the commissioner`s recommendation and forces them to sell, you know, that
will be a good thing for the NBA and most certainly for the Clippers in the
long run.

SCHULTZ: We`ve not only seen this around personalities, now we`re saying
it around sports teams. The advertising power drives an off a lot more so
today than ever before. It`s almost as if they`re empowered to take
action. And this picture that we`re showing right here of the players
taking a stand before the game the other night. How powerful is this on
sponsors?

SWANGARD: It`s very powerful. I mean the essence of sponsorship is
aligning your brand with another brand, in this case a sports brand and,
you know, the companies that have distanced themselves has said, you know,
we do not want to be associated with what the brand now stands for which is
in this case the owner.

Now, we`ve heard, and I think it`s been reported in the last few minutes
and hours that Adidas is coming back to the floor (ph) tonight putting
their signage back on the court. And I think the players in how they both
act tonight and ultimately play tonight will have a huge bearing on whether
people kind of rally around everybody associated with the team with the
exception of the one guy they want out.

SCHULTZ: OK, Paul Swangard, I appreciate your time tonight. Director of
Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon I appreciate your time.

One following comment to this, I am impressed with Adam Silver. He didn`t
let it become an issue on the Clippers` home court. He took action today.
There was a lot of conversation in the sports world about how are the fans
going to react when they come home playing the Golden State Warriors tied
at two games a piece. They didn`t play very well on the last game, what`s
this mean to the players, the coaches that would have put Doc Rivers on
untenable position.

This is how you manage, this guy moved, he moved quickly. He was very
decisive and if Americans didn`t know who Adam Silver was earlier today. A
lot more Americans are going to know who he is tonight.

SCHULTZ: Joining me tonight, Congressman James Clyburn of South Carolina
on the Democratic leadership team. Congressman, great to have you with us
tonight.

REP. JAMES CLYBURN, (D) SOUTH CAROLINA: Thank you -- thanks for having me,
Ed.

SCHULTZ: You bet. I want to point out to our audience that you have spent
the majority of your life in public service some 40 years, 22 years in the
House of Representatives. I want to talk about this NBA story first.
You`ve seen a lot of change in your life. What did you see today, what
have seen in the NBA?

CLYBURN: What we saw today Ed, I think is an attempt on the part of the
new commissioner to get at the issues that have been beneath the surface
for a long time all of us have been hearing for years about Mr. Sterling.
And this new commissioner that decided that he`s going to act and act
decisively. He has taken a great first step, now I hope the owners will
step up and provide the necessary votes to carry out this ban. And then do
what is necessary to force a sale of this property. This man seems to feel
that not just the team but all the members of that franchise or -- his
property.

And this is a real problem, and I think that what the commissioner did
today starts us down to road that you`re having a new kind of relationship
between ownership and players. I hope that the NCAA will take a look at
this and start doing some of the same things at the college level because
in many instances, there`s a cesspool leading to professional sport
starting with college athletics.

SCHULTZ: Congressman Paul Ryan has called his comments inarticulate and he
has not apologized and he`s going meet tomorrow with the Congressional
Black Caucus. But what do you expect out of the Congressman -- the
Chairman of the House Budget committee who has gotten so much attention
because of his radical budget which of course was passed in the House and
his comments on the inner city and how we have a culture of men not even
thinking about working. What has to happen tomorrow?

CLYBURN: Well, what has to happen tomorrow, I think is first, Mr. Ryan is
going to -- should explain how that is being inarticulate. When you say
people are not working, that`s one thing, when you say they are even
thinking about working. People who are lining up by the thousands every
time there`s a factory or a new industry with 200-300 jobs, you see 2,000-
3,000 people lining up. It seems to me that they are thinking about going
to work.

And I will remind him of the experiences he`s had as opposed to many of the
experiences a lot of these young men and older men living in a city had --
I always thought about working, yet over 80 percent of my college
graduating class left South Carolina because they couldn`t get work. They
were not just thinking about it, they we`re begging for it. And we have
some of the same things taking place today. And so I`m going to be
presenting Mr. Ryan with our 10, 20, 30 plan that the Congressional Black
Caucus, put in their budget.

And we got the most votes for our budget this year than we ever got in the
history of the existence of the caucus because people see that we have some
solutions to some very serious problems. I`m going to present that to Mr.
Ryan tomorrow --

SCHULTZ: OK.

CLYBURN: -- and I hope that he will give us his feedback on it.

SCHULTZ: And Congressman, if you look at this budget, 69 percent of his
cuts affect minorities and lower income Americans. Vice President Joe
Biden slammed Paul Ryan`s budget saying that the plan favors the wealthy
and cuts funding for infrastructure and Medicaid. Are there any doubts on
where Ryan`s priorities are?

CLYBURN: Absolutely none. If you were to get beyond his rhetoric and look
at his proposals, I think that everybody in this country will see that he
is favoring the wealthy over the working men and women in this country.
People who want to work and will work for minimum wage, they will love to
have their minimum wage increased. He`s not talking about increasing the
minimum wage to $10.10 but what he`s talking about is taking away the
resources that will allow people to work at any level. And so I think that
he going to get some good feedback at this meeting tomorrow.

SCHULTZ: I would say, it sounds like it`s going to be good feedback.
Congressman James Clyburn, good to have you with us tonight. I appreciate

from our viewers tonight in our Ask Ed Live segment.

First question is from Tom. He wants to know, "What do you think of the
Wisconsin voter I.D. law being struck down today?" This is a big setback
for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, a huge setback for the Republican role
in the State of Wisconsin. It would have forced state voters to show up
with a state I.D. card, the Federal judge struck it down saying it would
have been too much of burden on minorities and poor people in Wisconsin.

Walker says he`s going to continue to fight it, this story isn`t over. Big
move though and a big setback for the Governor of Wisconsin. Our next
question is from Clarke. He wants to know, "Fly fishing or traditional
casting?" Well its traditional casting, jig fishing and I like to pull
crankbait, and we`re getting close. Stick around Rapid Response Panel is
next.

MARY THOMPSON, CNBC CORRESPONDENT: I`m Mary Thompson with your CNBC Market
Wrap.

Stocks gained grounded in today`s session. The Dow up 86 points, less than
100 points away from its all time high. The S and P added eight and the
Nasdaq gained 29.

The eBay shares are lower in late trading. Its revenue and earnings beat
estimates but Guidance disappointed. And Twitter shares are down shortly
after hours. The company reported a net loss seclude by about a $130
million excluding items that was break-even, revenues was better than
expected.

SCHULTZ: Welcome to the Ed Show. Last week House Speaker John Boehner
back home with the folks made headlines for finally telling the truth about
his colleagues. Feed up with his own party`s unwillingness to address
immigration reform. Boehner openly mock their reluctance to get anything
done. The moment of truth didn`t last too long. Today Boehner took the
long lonely walk back.

BOEHNER: There was no mocking, they should be all know me, you know, you
tease the ones you love, right? But some people misunderstood what I had
to say and I wanted to make sure the members understood that the biggest
impediment we have in the moving immigration reform is that the American
people don`t trust the President to enforce or implement the law that we
may or may not pass. It`s a -- I`ve said it here, it`s the truth.

SCHULTZ: Enforce that`s the old tired Republican bullet point. President
Obama and his administration has put more enforcement on the boarder.
Three fold in the Bush Administration. In fact we are deporting people out
of this country at a record pace which in liberals are upset with the
President on. Boehner can try his best to shift the blame onto the
President but the truth is Republicans are holding up immigration reform in
this country.

Just look at what`s going on in the State of Florida at the State level.
He got a Senate Bill 1,400, it would grant instate tuition at Florida`s
public colleges and universities for undocumented Floridian students who
attended high school in the state and applied for citizenship. The Bill
has by Partisan support. Now a version of the bill has already past the
house however the appropriations committee chairman Republican senator Joe
Negron refuse to even allow a vote.

Nobody go down that road. And it`s the same old story. One Republican
uses a procedural maneuver to block the will of the people. There`s still
hope Republican Senate President Don Gaetz still has the power to allow the
full Senate to vote on the Bill no mater how it unfolds, you can be sure
Boehner will continue to try to blame the President of the United States
for his own parties failures, even on the State level.

Joining me now on a Rapid Response panel, syndicated columnist Connie
Schultz with us tonight and also Annette Taddeo, Chair of the Miami-Dade
Democratic Party. Great to have both of you with us tonight. Annette you
first, what`s the latest on this? Does it look like the Senate President
is going to allow a vote? And I guess to capsulize this, this is anti-
dreamer, isn`t it?

ANNETTE TADDEO CHAIR, MIAMI-DADE DEMOCRATIC PARTY: Well actually yes, the
Senate President is anti-dreamer. But it looks really good, it looks
amazingly good, like tomorrow we`re going to have a vote, we have 21
cosponsors in the Senate, it is not by Partisan Bill., although obviously
the extremist Republicans don`t want it. But it`s amazing one on election
year will do. But at the end of the day the winner are going to be the
people of Florida and specially the dreamers and all of us who have
invested in their education in their future.

SCHULTZ: Connie this Bill has the support of Governor Rick Scott and
Former Governor Jeb Bush and Bob Martinez. Now, so where is this
opposition coming from within the Republican Party? It`s almost like
they`re taking marching orders.

CONNIE SCHULTZ, SYNDICATED COLUMNIST: Well it comes from the far right and
the far right has always been organized in their ability to email and to
phone members of legislatures that, you know, you hear them use that excuse
all the time that they hearing from their constituents. But the thing is
you`re elected to lead not wait for permission. And while the right is
organized, I have been on the receiving in that a lot as I know you have.
That doesn`t mean they speak for the majority of Americans, even --
SCHULTZ: Yeah.

C. SCHULTZ: -- lead alone the majority of dreamers. And let`s be clear
here, we`re talking about children, your either four children, if your only
four son children, you`re not four children. You either support the
children in this country or you don`t. And that`s why the arguments I`ve
been making day in and day out on this.

E. SCHULTZ: It seems that the Republicans are obviously making a
calculation that, "Gosh, this could be voters some day and we can`t let
this happen." What about that Annette?

TADDEO: Oh, it`s not just about absolutely, it`s not -- but it`s not just
about someday, it`s about today. And the fact that this year we have an
election and Governor Rick Scott have seen all the day, all eyes in his
polling and he`s waking up and saying, "Uh-oh." Now last year he vetoed
the driver license for dreamers. So last year we were second class
citizens. This year, election year, his all for this dreamer bill.

So I think it`s great again because we all win but we see the writing and
we know where his coming from.

SCHULTZ: This Senate President Gaetz wrote a column about why he doesn`t
support this Bill saying, "Senate Bill 1,400 is not limited to Hispanics,
it casts a blanket of approval over non citizens who are in this country
without proper legal status from anywhere in the world including the
countries that are caldrons of terrorism and anti-American violence."
Connie is he trying to tie this legislation to terrorism clearly. What`s
your response to that? They`ll try anything.

C. SCHULTZ: Well they will, I read that up Ed and I though it was
pathetic. He also mentioned he compare -- try compare and contrast this to
Veterans benefits for college. And of course veterans and every state in
this country should get every (inaudible) that they can get, that has
absolutely nothing to do with what we need to do for all this children who
have grown up in this country.

If they`ve attended High school and they`re applying to becoming citizens,
look, the questions pretty simple to me. Do we want these children to
experience the American dream in its fullest? We want to reward them for
trying hard and for working hard. Or do we want to basically bring
resentment in them and disappointment. Why? Why would we do that to any
child this country? I don`t need it all to come across this naive. I come
off as a mother and an American.

And hey, if the reason that there`s a lot of Republicans are getting on
board now because they see the potential for voters. Whatever gets in
their Ed --

E. SCHULTZ: Yeah.

C. SCHULTZ: -- I don`t need their hearts. I need them to do the right
thing.

SCHULTZ: And is this very different from what`s going on in Virginia
County? The Attorney General declared dreamer eligible for instate tuition
after legislators rejected the Dream Act.

C. SCHULTZ: Right.

E. SCHULTZ: Explain what`s going on there.

C. SCHULTZ: In the word, leadership. And the Attorney General Harry
Daugherty won that election last fall as you`ll recall, but he knows --
he`s made a decision, he`s got to do the right thing. He`s not going to
worry about poll numbers. He`s not going to worry about the next election.
I thought it was a remarkable statement that come out in not just in
English but they usually in Korea and Vietnamese and Hindi. I don`t
remember all the languages. But I thought that was just a perfect roll out
for that announcement.

E. SCHULTZ: And Annette, this just is not the real Rick Scott, is it? Do
people get it?

TADDEO: Well certainly Hispanics we get it. We know that this last year
he treated us like second class citizens. But I will tell you, this
leadership that we just saw and we`re seeing in other states from Democrats
mostly is exactly what we need to see in Washington from Boehner and just
have a vote. I mean a huge percentage of Republicans, not just Democrats,
Republican support immigration reform --

SCHULTZ: Yeah.

TADDEO: -- across the country. And he is only listening to this or
letting this minority extreme minority dictates the priorities in Congress
and it`s a shame.

SCHULTZ: Annette Taddeo, Connie Schultz, thank you for being with us
tonight on the Ed Show, thank you so much. Coming up Rush Limbaugh got the
scoop on who`s really behind Donald Sterling`s racist comments. Pretenders

winger is calling conspiracy. That`s right, Limbaugh says all this outrage
over Donald Sterling`s comments are bogus. The real troubles stems from
President Obama drama.

RUSH LIMBAUGH, CONSERVATIVE RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: This Donald Sterling
business, I`ve tested it folks. This is not news to anybody who has known
of this guy. I mean, I`m telling Mr. Snerdley this morning that this guy
is a big Democrat. The only reason his in trouble right now is did not
give enough money to Obama. All of this shock and outrage, I`m going to
tell you something, it is phony as you can believe. Everybody in the media
from L.A. to New York who`s acting shock about this, I`m telling you,
they`ve known who this guy is.

SCHULTZ: Limbaugh is trying to pass off Donald Sterling woes as in party
retaliation. But there`s a problem, Donald Sterling isn`t a Democrat at
all. Despite of few contributions to Democratic candidate some 20 years
ago, Sterling is a bonafide member of the GOP. Sterling`s party politics,
not the issue. But if Rush Limbaugh thinks he can paint Sterling as a big
Democrat without looking like a big liar, he keeps on pretending.

SCHULTZ: Welcome back to The Ed Show. This is the story for the folks who
take a shower after work.

Debate over TransCanada`s proposed Keystone XL pipeline is raging in
Congress. Republicans really want this and some Democrats. Citizen who
are apposing it are asking there Congressman to flip. They give away one
help, say no to it. As for weekend in Washington D.C., speaking with
people who are adamantly against pipelines, members of Bold Nebraska and
also the Cowboy and Indian Alliance say that the Keystone XL threatens
their land, water and livelihood.

Nebraska Congressman Lee Terry is one of the pipeline`s most vocal
supporters in the house. He released the new video this week. What more
will it take?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Only if this project does not significantly exacerbate
the problem of carbon pollution.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: According to the state department, building the
Keystone pipeline over do some carbon pollution by 28 to 42 percent.

LEE TERRY: President didn`t have a problem with the Alberta Clipper
pipeline delivering oil into the United States and crossing the border.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You said the Keystone XL pipeline won`t be approved if
it`s significantly worst since climate change. The state department report
has concluded that Keystone will not have a significant affect on climate
change.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The president puns (ph) still after the election.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s about politics.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We can build, there`s no, there`s nothing complex on
Keystone pipeline.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s time to build.

SCHULTZ: Earlier this year members of Bold Nebraska told me the lobbying
effort in this information campaign are two of their big concerns.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JANE KLEEB, EXCUTIVE DIRECTOR, BOLD NEBRASKA: He sends some e-mail to his
supporter saying that their electricity bills will go up unless the
Keystone XL pipeline is approved. That is outrageous. It was outrage the
--

SCHULTZ: So the fear tactic is out there as well?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yeah.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh sure, yeah.

SCHULTZ: You were told that you`re electricity rates are going to go up --

KLEEB: It`s going to go up.

SCHULTZ: -- unless the pipeline`s built.

KLEEB: Yes, that`s outrageous. And that`s the type of tactics that not
only Representative Terry uses but ALEC and Americans for Prosperity all of
those groups on the far right who don`t care actually about protecting
farmers and ranchers, they`ll put them in their political ads. But they --
when it comes time when the rubber hit the road, where are they? Have a
single Republican leader stood with us throughout this time? No.

SCHUTLZ: The e-mail and question from Kevin Conroy, Terry`s campaign
manager alleges energy prices have risen over the last few years. They
claim prices will continue to rise if the Keystone XL pipe is not approve.
Is says, "I am proud of the work Lee terry is doing to lower energy cost at
home bay passing Keystone XL." Congressman Lee Terry says that the
President`s decision to delay the pipeline is all about politics. And
Congressman Lee Terry joins us tonight here on the Ed Show.

Congressman good to have you with us, I appreciate your time. I`m glad we
can work this out.

REP. LEE TERRY, (R) NEBRASKA: Yeah, I`m glad we were finally got together
Ed, thanks.

SCHULTZ: Congressman, I want to ask you about the e-mail because the
constituents there in Nebraska were very concerned about the claim that the
electrical rates would go down if the Keystone XL were built. Can you
address that?

TERRY: The issue was energy rates. And there was no doubt that the gas
prices at the pumping have gone up, we didn`t say electricity. That was
the myth perpetuated by Bold Nebraska. The reality here is that he oil
that comes in from the Alberta sand will completely offset the oil from
Venezuela. Venezuela is in near of civil war right now and they are non-
reliable trading partner. There`s no doubt that prices will stabilize,
that the gasoline that are being produce from that oil will be cheaper as
it comes into the market and there are some people in the Northeast that do
use products like heating oils to heat their house and this will provide
that level of security and key price is down, there`s no doubt about it and
the economic study show that.

SCHULTZ: What about -- well there`s a lot of economic studies out there.
What about the purity of the oil I mean Senator Mary Landrieu says that
this is going to be the cleanest barrel of oil in North America. Do you
agree with that?

TERRY: Well it`s a heavy crude, so if we`re talking a sweet crude versus a
heavy crude this is definitely a heavy crude. There`s no doubt about that
--

SCHULT|Z: So compared to Venezuelan Oil?

TERRY: They would be equal in essence. And then in fact the refineries
that are buying this oil are the ones that are using Venezuelan oil right
now. So they`re already engineered for the heavier crude.

SCHULTZ: OK. Now is it -- you`ve said that this was a political decision
by the president.

TERRY: Absolutely.

SCHULTZ: OK. Well we give oil subsidies to major companies that make
billions of dollars. So everything about energy is political. Putting
that aside, isn`t this pipeline a legal issue, eminent domain and property
rights and the people in Nebraska where this pipeline is designed to go
through, they don`t want it on their land, I mean it`s a legal issue, isn`t
it?

TERRY: Well, parts of are a legal issue but signing the permit has nothing
to do with whether or not Eminent Domain in the state of Nebraska under
state laws will be necessary or not. The president`s duty here is to
determine if it`s in our national interest to sign that permit. In the
State Department when they stamp final on this all 22,000 pages of studies
concluded that it is in our national interest to have that pipeline. So
why did the President -- .

SCHULTZ: There`s not been a recommendation from the Secretary Of State as
of yet. There have been studies that have been questioned --

TERRY: And what?

SCHULTZ: -- and there`s studies allover the place. But even if the
president gave approval Congressman, this wouldn`t speed it up because it`s
hang up on the state Supreme Court in Nebraska plus the public Service
Commission would have to role after that. So --

TERRY: Maybe, maybe not. But he can certainly start the construction by
signing the permit on (inaudible) South Dakota.

SCHULTZ: Well wait a minute there.

TERRY: And that decision`s been stayed.

SCHULTZ: You can`t -- but --

TERRY: Why that you need to say that it`s been stayed by the courts?

SCHULTZ: Congressman, they cannot build this pipeline until this is clear
it up by the Nebraska State Supreme Court, correct?

TERRY: No, right now it`s under a stay. They can start building it right
now, other than they may have to go into Eminent Domain, because there
aren`t going to be at least to --

SCHULTZ: Congressman, respectfully that would be --

TERRY: -- plan the holders that are holding out with --

SCHULTZ: That would be breaking the law. I mean you just can`t go into
somebody --

TERRY: No, if the folks have signed there won`t be breaking the law --

SCHULTZ: The president can`t be a dictator and go in Nebraska and tell
people --

TERRY: Why don`t you start it on many other things?

SCHULTZ: Now wait a minute now, this is a fact, the President can`t go
with in on Eminent Domain and say hey we`re taking your land state issue.

TERRY: No, he couldn`t do that in Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska,
that`s where the State Court.

SCHULTZ: So the President has said -- hasn`t the President said all along
he is going to wait for the legal process to play out.

TERRY: Wait Ed, you just put a new standard on a permit crossing a border
now that all of the land has to be put together on 1,700 mile route there.

SCHULTZ: No, I didn`t do that. The President --

TERRT: You just did.

SCHULTZ: -- .has said all along that he is going to respect the legal
process before he makes a decision. You are not permit for this pipeline.

TERRY: The legal process of his duty of signing the permit which is
waiting until the State Department give the final and they`ve made it
final. It`s time for him to sign it. He should pull out his pen and sign
that. It`s time to build it.

SCHULTZ: There`s so much to talk about. We only have few minutes.
