J.K. Rowling revealed she is not ruling out writing another book set in Harry Potter’s world.
"It was murder saying goodbye,’’ Rowling told the BBC Wednesday about leaving Harry Potter behind. “Now if I had a fabulous idea that came out of that world — because I loved writing it — I'd do it."
Rowling would take another trip on the Hogwarts Express only if she had "a great idea," she said. "I don't want to go mechanically back in to that world and pick up loads of odds and ends and glue them together and go 'here we go.’ It would make a mockery of what those books mean to me."

But a new novel would center around characters other than The Boy who Lived. “Where Harry’s story is concerned, I’m done,’’ she said. Instead, she would craft a “sidestep’’ story, rather than a sequel or prequel.
Rowling, whose seventh and final Harry Potter book was released in 2007, also told the BBC that she has considered revising some of the books.
“There were a couple of the Potters and I definitely knew that they needed another year,’’ she told the BBC. “I had to write on the run and there were times when it was really tough. And I read them, and I think ‘Oh God, maybe I’ll go back and do a director’s cut,' I don’t know. But you know what, I’m proud I was writing under the conditions under which I was writing. No one will ever know how tough it was at times.’’

Rowling’s new adult novel, "The Casual Vacancy," will be released on Thursday. She told the BBC that her next book would most likely be for “slightly younger children than the Potter books.’’
While "Vacancy" is "definitely not for children,’’ Rowling noted, she had nothing to prove after selling 450 million copies of the Potter books.
“I certainly don't mean that in an arrogant way," she added, "I certainly don't mean that I think I can't improve as a writer.
"But Harry Potter truly liberated me in the sense that there's only one reason to write, for me — if I genuinely have something I want to say, and I want to publish it."
