From casual cut-offs to retro-style skirts, denim is hotter than ever. TODAY style editor and Bobbie.com's Bobbie Thomas shares how to flaunt the look at any age.

Everyone seems to be rocking the blues this summer. From Rihanna's spiked style at Coachella and Carrie Underwood's sequined style at the CMA festival, to the classic cutoffs favored by Michelle Williams, Zoe Saldana, and Rachel Bilson, there's a pair of denim shorts for every personality. Fringe seeking twenty-somethings can opt the rocker vibe with a studded belt, or a printed blouse and boots for a more bohemian look (5-Pocket Cuffed Denim Cutoff $68, freepeople.com).

My fellow 30-plus friends looking for a little polish can join me in the "clean and classic" club where, yes, less is more. A white button-down blouse will always offer a fresh compliment to cutoffs or cuffed jean shorts (Tinley Road Outer Banks Tie Blouse, $29.99, piperlime.com; Belted Denim Bermuda Shorts $14, jcp.com). A braided or rope belt can dress your denim down with espadrilles, while a luxe leather belt with hardware and a chic shoe can add a posh touch.

From Eva Mendes and Emma Stone to Kiera Knightly, A-list actresses have been stepping out in A-line and button-front denim skirts. When it comes to styling this retro-inspired statement, you can keep things ladylike with a delicate blouse, or go the opposite direction and don a simple, white t-shirt.  Either way, you'll end up with a confident, effortless combo you can wear now with sandals, or this fall with boots and a cardigan (Bouquet Blouse, $32, fashiontofigure.com; St. John's Bay Denim Skirt $11, jcp.com).

While the thought of a denim dress might strike fear in the eyes of some, there are actually a number of airy, fashion forward frocks out there that are anything but dowdy. One option? Chambray, a fabric that's similar in look to denim but lightweight enough to flow and drape, making it ideal for warmer weather. Whether you're a size 2 or a size 22, it's all about the fit, be sure to slip into something that skims your shape, flowing over your curves without clinging (Crossover Chambray Dress $64.99, eloquii.com).
