Harris has signed to star as Professor Joseph Coupland in the supernatural thriller "The Quiet Ones," Hammer's parent company Exclusive Media said Monday.
In the film, Harris' charismatic professor convinces his students to participate in an experiment to try to create a poltergeist.
John Pogue ("Quarantine 2") will direct the film, which James Gay-Rees ("Senna") will produce in association with TPSC Films. Shooting will begin in the United Kingdom in June 2012.
Harris, son of late actor Richard Harris, has been racking up an impressive list of film roles to go along with his supporting turn on AMC's "Mad Men."
He recently starred as the villainous Professor Moriarty in last year's "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" and will play Ulysses S. Grant in Steven Spielberg's upcoming biopic "Lincoln."
