Talk about family bonding. While William, Duke of Cambridge, is away on military duty, his wife Kate has been putting in quality time with his family.
On Thursday, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out with her in-laws, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to visit a gallery in south London to see the work of a local art charity.
A royal spokesman told TODAY.com that the visit was put together as they "both have a shared in interest in the arts, and they were keen to support one another through the engagement they attended yesterday. The Prince of Wales’s charity Children And The Arts is a leading charity in the sector, and The Duchess was keen to learn more about it."
The trio was greated outside the Dulwich Picture Gallery by 150 children waving Union Jack flags.

Looking chic in a grey Orla Kelly dress, the royals took an art class with children that involved lace doilies and then used irons — more or less successfully — to complete their designs.

It was the latest in a series of appearances she’s made over the last few weeks since William was deployed to the Falklands in his role as a military search and rescue pilot.
In February, she had a ladies day out in London with the queen and her stepmother-in-law Camilla to the royal grocer, Fortnum & Mason.
Then on March 9, she joined the queen and Prince Phillip on a trip to Leicester to kick off the queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour of the U.K.

William’s brother Harry, who shared a royal apartment with the newlyweds for a short time after their marriage, has always spoken affectionately of Kate, and often calls her his sister.
"Well the three of us, my brother and sister, will obviously be as involved as we can be. London's hosting the Olympics we'll help out as much as we can,” he said during his trip to Brazil earlier this month.

That Kate places a high value on family is no secret. She is known to have a close relationship with her parents, and worked in their family business before her marriage last April.
She also has a tight bond with her siblings. Her sister Pippa served as her maid of honor at her wedding and her brother James read a recitation during the ceremony. She was also often seen out on the town with Pippa after her short breakup with William in 2007.
Earlier Thursday Kate made fashion waves when she accessorized tangerine/coral skinny jeans with sneakers and a sweatshirt to show off her hockey skills (she played in school) on a surprise visit to London's Olympic Park.
