Fashion designer du jour Jason Wu made a statement on recent runways, topping off his ladylike designs with neon orange lips. Diane Kendal and her MAC Cosmetics team created the electric pout by adding a layer of Neo Orange loose powder on top of a scarlet lipstick ($14.50-$20, ). Tom Ford’s Wild Ginger and True Coral are rich splurge-worthy ready-to-wear shades ($48, ), while Bobbi Brown’s new Neons and Nudes collection includes an Atomic Orange lipstick, a juicy gloss called Citrus 2, and a pretty palette of subtle eye shadows perfect to pair with a shocking lip ($23, ). Pump up the color on your pout, but keep everything else simple for a fresh modern contrast.

Fuchsia
Purple reigned on other spring 2012 runways, like Prabal Gurung’s show which accented models’ lips with an ombre effect. If you're a fan of plum or brown-based lipsticks, it'll be easy to make the jump to a vibrant berry hue. L'Oreal's Colour Riche in 'Sea Fleur' and Maybelline's Super Stay Gloss Stain in 'Fresh Fuchsia' are two favorite finds from the drugstore (L'Oreal Colour Riche $8.95, ; Maybelline Super Stay Gloss $9.99, ) while more daring divas can venture deep into purple territory with Illamasqua's Resist and Atomic, or Lime Crime's Centrifuchsia (Illamasqua Lipstick $22, ; Lime Crime Lipstick $15.99, ).

Powder pink
Bubblegum pink may sound like a hue that's fit only for tweens or trendsetters, but contemporary designer Michelle Smith proved pink could look polished at this season’s Milly show. The shade can be surprisingly soft on a wide variety of skintones, from the fairest of ivories to deep mocha. If you’re not convinced consider working your way up the pink chain with a tinted gloss, such as Tokidoki’s Arlecchino’s Prisma Gloss. Next you could tackle a cream lip stain, like Sephora Collection’s Cute Pink or Tarina Taratino’s Nouveau (all $12-22, ). But if you’re ready for the full power of an opaque pink, you’ll love CoverGirl’s LipPerfection shade Enchantress. A fun affordable way to wear a warmer weather trend now! (Covergirl LipPerfection $6.99, )
