Video: Forget boring burgers! Try these alternatives

Recipe: Falafel burger

  • Falafel burger
  • 1 each pita bread, split open to form two discs
  • 1 oz arrugala
  • 2 oz. pickled cucumber slices (see recipe below)
  • 3 each slices ripe red Roma tomatoes, 1/8" thick
  • 1 oz feta cheese, crumbled
  • 4 rings of sliced red onion, 1/4 " thick
  • 2 oz tatzhiki sauce (see recipe below)
  • 8 oz. falafel mix, pressed into a patty (see recipe below)
  • 1 oz olive oil
  • Pickled cucumber slices
  • 2 oz 1/8" thick slices of seedless cucumber
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs lemon juice
  • 1 tbs red wine vinegar
  • Falafel mix
  • 1 lb ground chick peas
  • 3 tbs tahini paste
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 3 tbs chopped flat leaf parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil (to just hold mixture together)
  • Tatzhiki sauce
  • 6 oz plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 oz sour cream
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 1 tbs minced garlic
  • 2 tsp chopped mint
  • 1 tsp chopped dill
  • 1/4 cup grated seedless cucumber
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Pickled cucumber slices
Combine all ingredients and let marinate in refrigerator for 3 hours.

Falafel mix
Combine all ingredients In a bowl. Moisten with oil to just hold together.

Tatzhiki sauce
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix well.

Falafel burger
Place one side of pita on plate. Top with arugala, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and cheese.

Pan fry falafel patty until golden brown on both sides. Place on top of vegetables. Top with tatzhiki sauce. Place remaining pita on top of patty.

Serve with parmesan and sea salted fries.

Serving Size

Makes 4 burgers

Recipe: The Grille Prime Cheeseburger

  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • 1 brioche hamburger roll
  • 2 each 4 oz. burger patties
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Two slices American cheese
  • 1 oz. shredded lettuce
  • 4 rings of sliced red onion
  • 4 each bread & butter pickle chips
  • 2 slices 1/8" thick ripe tomato
  • 2 tablespoons "sloppy sauce" (sorry, proprietary recipe)

Slice bun. Butter. Grill until golden. Spread sauce on bottom of bun.

Top bun bottom with pickles, tomato, onion & lettuce.

Season both sides of burger patties with salt and pepper.

Grill until medium well, about 3 minutes for the first side, 2 minutes for the second side. When the burgers are flipped, top each pattie with American cheese.

When cheese is soft and burgers are cooked, stack burgers on top of bun bottom. Place bun top on top of burger and serve with french fries.
