   ANN CURRY, co-host: Anyway, we're going to begin this half-hour, however, with the end of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore 's marriage. NBC 's Kristen Dahlgren is in Los Angeles with more on this story. Kristen , good morning.

   KRISTEN DAHLGREN reporting: Hey, good morning, Ann. Well, the split really wasn't a surprise to many here in Hollywood , it's played out in the tabloids and on Twitter , but now Demi Moore is confirming the end of their marriage and the beginning of what is likely to be a high-dollar divorce. After all the widespread speculation

   about Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore's marriage, Moore's statement was short: "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton . As a woman, a mother and a wife, there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life." Moore then asked for privacy, something the celebrity pair may have trouble finding. For months, Kutcher and Moore have been front and center in the tabloids. The couple who once captured imaginations with their stunning looks and 16-year age difference instead faced allegations that Kutcher had a one-night stand with this woman, Sara Leal , on the eve of his sixth wedding anniversary.

   Ms. JANICE MIN (Editorial Director, Hollywood Reporter): A woman came out, was -- seemed pretty credible, gave very specific details. The timing, I'm sure, is no coincidence, that this was sort of the final straw.

   DAHLGREN: After the alleged affair, Moore and Kutcher were seen camping together, but the couple, who were well-known for tweeting love notes and pictures, also began using social media to offer clues about their split.

   Ms. MIN: I don't think you're going to see a lot of interviews happening with these two. I think you'll probably see them more using their Twitter accounts, Facebook , to say what they would like to say.

   DAHLGREN: On Thursday, the " Two and a Half Men " star tweeted, "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi . Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and, unfortunately, sometimes they fail."

   DAHLGREN: And in this case, failure could mean a megabuck split. Their combined worth is estimated at more than $200 million.

   Mr. MARK VINCENT KAPLAN (Los Angeles Divorce Attorney): This is going to be a dissolution of marriage that is more a function of mathematics than an opportunity for retribution, and I think the parties will be able to move on fairly quickly and precisely.

   DAHLGREN: But divorce proceedings unlikely to end the fascination with these two. We did reach out to reps for both and they had no further comment. Ann :
